For the nation wide ARES simulated emergency test on Saturday I and others will be set up at the Hanson hospital in Iowa falls IA.
Our objective will be to determine which of the frequency bands will result in the best state wide communications. we will be using a loaded 40m dipole with traps for 40m 60m 80m and 160 m.
We will start calling on 3.970 mhz at 7 am to 7:15 going to 1.9745mhz to 7:30 then to 5.3715mhz to 7:45 then to 7.250mz to 8am At that time we will start over, changing frequency's every 15 min. two large incoming solar flairs may make it an interesting experiment. We will operate till noon.
On Sunday afternoon I will be operating from home on the same frequency's. The radio will be an Icom 7300 at 100 watts the antenna will be set up as an nvis 12 ft off the ground.
